Community and Service: Holiday Connections
Reflection:
The community and service that I participated in, that was my favorite, had to be Holiday Connections. I was the head of this event which I led through NJHS. For this event we all brought in gifts to give to children who are less fortunate and would not have a Christmas. We all buy them gifts anonymously and wrap them as "Santa". This year NJHS took on two families and gave a Christmas to three children and three adults. My family does this every year but this year we were able to share this joy with NJHS as well. I believe that this was a great thing for the National Junior Honor Society to do and it was good for the students to be exposed to the lives of children in need. I believe that once you are exposed to that terrible life that others, sadly, have to live, there is a drive instilled in you that makes you want to help others more. That was my goal, to instill that drive in the NJHS, while heading up this event. Other than wrapping the presents that day, we also created cards for all the teachers in the school. It was a fabulous and productive day that was defiantly worth our time. In conclusion, this event was one out of many I participated in over this year, but it was my favorite.
